TIRANA – Coordinated by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Albania, test kits donated by the Mammoth Foundation and developed by the Chinese company BGI, arrived in Tirana on March 31, 2020, according to an announcement by the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday.
“These are the first medical materials China donates to Albania for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, which shows the friendly feeling of the Chinese people towards the Albanian people,” said the Embassy.
Further on the announcement said: “Timely testing of the virus will play an important role in Albania’s fight against the pandemic. The Chinese government and people are constantly following this struggle of the Albanian people and they will always stand by them and help them within their means. We are convinced that Albania will overcome the difficulties and win this war.”
A few days ago the Chinese Ambassador, Zhou Ding declared China’s willingness to help Albania in the fight against coronavirus in two public interviews on local TVs. “Albania has proved its friendship for China in hard times and this friendship will be returned,” Ambassador Zhou said in an interview on a local TV.
Ambassador Zhou also revealed that he had always held close communication with the Albanian government, particularly with the Prime Minister and the Health Minister. “Now that Albania is threatened by the pandemic we will stand by the Albanian people,” Beijing’s top envoy to Tirana said recalling the old saying: “Good friend is known in difficult time!”
Albanian Health Institute praises Chinese aid
“The Institute of Public Health thanks the Chinese Embassy in Tirana for its support by donating COVID-19 tests,” a press release issued by the press office of ISHP said on Wednesday.
“This is not only a donation in these difficult moments, but also a generous gesture of a great country and with an even greater heart. Endless thanks and gratitude to the Chinese government for the care shown to the Albanian people,” reads the statement released by the Institute of Public Health. /argumentum.al
