TIRANA, July 10 – “Last week, I had the honor of celebrating the bonds of friendship between our two countries and seeing what’s possible when people embrace democracy.”
This is what the former US President, Bill Clinton has said after a two-day visit to Albania at the beginning of July where he was received with high state honors and also made a speech in which he also mentioned Kosovo.
Clinton mentioned NATO’s intervention as well as the sheltering of half a million Kosovo refugees by Albania during 1999 in a tweet on Sunday.
“During the Kosovo conflict, Albania helped humanity prevail – taking in nearly half a million refugees and serving as a vital partner for peace,” said Clinton in his post.
Bill Clinton served as president of the United States of America from 1993 to 2001.
