We request the urgent meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party, in order to pave the way for launching a radical process of reflection and analysis, necessary and vital for the Party, a process which will enable extraordinary elections, with a fair, open and democratic competition for the new governing structures of the Party based on the best models of the sister parties of the classical right-wing. DP Won’t Recognize Elections Preparing to Take to Streets as Pressure for Basha’s Resignation Mounts
The Democratic Party (DP) led opposition will not recognize the election and will take to the streets.
This was declared by DP candidate, Agron Gjekmarkaj, who is close to party head Lulzim Basha, in a post on FB on Wednesday. According to him, the votes of the opposition were stolen and DP is in its biggest test of existence.
He warned that the confrontation is coming and Basha’s opposition will appear in the Albanian squares where they will lead a battle to overthrow the regime.
“DP is in its greatest test of existence! It must enter the trench where pluralism and life are protected! The opposition led by Lulzim Basha will lead this battle in Albanian squares, until the regime falls and the vote returns!” he said.
Further on Gjekmarkaj, a political analyst, said the opposition will not be complexed by foreighn embassy bureaucrats accredited in Tirana and it will listen to Albanians and respond to the challenge of corruption with the challenge of democracy.
“These elections will not be recognized. They must be spit on! We will expel the vote thieves from the state offices and from the life of this nation! The confrontation is coming!” warned Gjekmarkaj.
Such an appeal comes after the anger against Basha is rising with increasing number of senior DP officials pressing for his dismissal.
Ten members of the Chairmanship, the National Council, DP Youth Forum (FRPD) and founders of the Democratic Party unanimously demand the resignation of Lulzim Basha from the post of chairman in a letter released on Wednesday. Among the names are prominent figures such as Bujar Nishani, Arben Imami, Arben Ristani, etc.
They say that the DP led by Basha in the last 8 years has been a failure, and according to them, he is the sole responsible.
