TIRANA, December 28 – Through a reaction, the Foreign Ministry of Albania has condemned the situation in the north of Kosovo, stating that the barricades were placed there by criminal groups.
On her social networks, Minister Olta Xhaçka said on Tuesday that those scenes recalled the dark days of the 90s during the Yugoslav regime.
Xhaçka said that it is a very bad idea to play with fire in 2023. “The barricades that have been erected in the north, not by any wave of popular anger, but by a group of notorious criminals, are not merely preventing the normal course of life. They are also scenes reminiscent of the dark days of the 1990s which our region has left behind together with the former Yugoslavia that went away. The year 2023 is coming soon! This is not the time to make military threats or unacceptable attacks against the Kosovo Police, KFOR and the EULEX Police. This is the time for dialogue and cooperation. This dangerous confrontation must end and the perpetrators must be brought to justice,” said the FM on Tuesday.
“We are with Kosovo in this difficult situation and we call on the Serbian authorities not to justify either the barricades or the criminal groups that refuse to remove them. Playing with fire is a very bad idea for future of our children,” said Xhaçka in the first reaction of the Albanian government after Serbs erected barricades in northern Kosovo. /Argumentum.al
