TIRANA, June 24 – The Albanian government has given the status of strategic investor for the construction of a hotel and the use of a coastal area in Himara, southern Albania, by the company owned by the husband of Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka and former Socialist MP Artan Gaci. DP deputy Gazment Bardhi published several documents, which show that Gaci received a ‘war’ salary of 40,000 ALL during the pandemic in a post on social networks on Friday.
“From the needy, to a strategic investor,” wrote Bardhi, on the husband of Minister Olta Xhacka.
“Only with the signature of PM Edi Rama can it happen that today you are a “people in need” and benefit from a “war salary” of 400,000 old leks, and the next day you become a strategic investor who has the financial capacity to invest even more and no less, but 5.5 million euros. This is the case of illegal use of public property by Minister Olta Xhacka! ” wrote Bardhi on facebook.
In the meantime, the Parliamentary Mandates Council, which met on Friday to discuss the request of the Democratic Party (DP) MPs for the lifting of the immunity of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Socialist Party (SP) MP, Olta Xhacka, decided to take into consideration the demand of the Socialist MPs to put off the consideration of the issue.
The head of the parliamentary group of DP, Enkelejd Alibeaj said that the request was signed by 14 deputies and in addition to the signatures the relevant facts and evidence were deposited attached to the request.
“Why don’t we continue with the presentation of the request? Why ask for time as there is no debate in this meeting. The gentleman says we make no decision. Therefore, I say we are moving today with the submission of the request,” said Alibeaj.
Speaker Lindita Nikolla endorsed the request of the Socialists for more time and closed the meeting by asking fellow MPs to study in detail the proposal of the DP.
