TIRANA, October 26 – The head of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta has said in a press conference after the meeting with the head of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha on Wednesday that an agreement has been reached with the latter and that the FP will not become a cause for division of the opposition.
“I have said it clearly, there will be no candidate against or who will compete with candidates from the opposition. FP will not become a cause for division, this is a battle. We respect the primaries and we will be part of the primaries,” said Meta.
Albania will hold local power elections on May 14 next year.
He said that he had told Berisha that any candidate who runs in the primaries and tries to harm his colleague should be categorically excluded from the race.
“It is not being done to harm each other and to favor this junta. We are clear and our achieved agreement interests all Albanians, not only the opposition. Referendum and primaries,” said the former president.
Speaking of the files of ‘Sigurimi’ (former communist state security) Meta said that the laws made by Kristaq’s son, Edvin Kristaq Rama, the laws made by Spiro Koleka’s grandson “I will put them with the greatest tolerance where he enjoys it most”.
Further, Meta said that all those who think they will execute political pluralism will have the fate of Mussolini and Clareta, Mussolini’s lover. “When the Parliament of Tirana convenes, it will have almost 10 investigative commissions and 1 commission is for the Municipality of Tirana, which has to do with the corruption of files,” he said.
“Rama knows that I keep my promises. The painter of the State Security, Edvin Kristaq Rama must know very well that he will answer to everything regarding the violations of the law. He knows it, but he behaves in this way to make others brave. He wants to use them as he used Sajmir (Tahiri), Lefter (Koka) and Alqi (Bllako),” said the FP head.
The three of them have been close collaborators of PM Rama and now they are behind bars. Bllako is in house arrest. /Argumentum.al
