Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha has outlined Albania’s foreign policy priorities through the end of the year, focusing on the country’s EU integration process, stronger regional cooperation, improved consular services, and the modernization of the diplomatic service.
In a post on X following the Government Seminar in Pogradec, Hoxha stressed that the continuation of Albania’s EU accession process remains the country’s primary foreign policy objective.
“This will require increased momentum, clear focus and full diplomatic engagement,” Hoxha said.
Strengthening regional cooperation will also remain a key priority, with the aim of contributing to a more stable, interconnected and resilient Western Balkans, closer to Europe.
Hoxha also highlighted the further modernization and simplification of consular services, with the goal of making them faster, more accessible and increasingly citizen-oriented.
Particular attention, he said, will be given to the continued reform of the Foreign Service, with the aim of building a modern, professional and merit-based diplomacy.
According to Hoxha, Albania needs a capable, flexible and committed diplomatic corps that can represent the country with dignity, protect national interests and create greater added value for Albania.
Among the priorities he identified are greater influence in shaping the country’s image and cultural and social projection, stronger links with the economy and trade, expanded partnerships and connectivity, and more concrete results for Albania and its citizens.
“A European Albania also requires a European diplomacy,” Hoxha concluded.
