TIRANA, November 14 – Although Albania has maintained a negative natural increase due to the decrease in the rate of deaths in the third 3-month period, the birth rate is registering a rapid decline, deepening the negative trend of quick aging of the country.
According to INSTAT data, births in the third quarter of 2022 were 6172, marking a decrease of 19.6%, compared to the third quarter of 2021.
The number of deaths was 5130 in the third quarter of 2022, marking a decrease of 19.8%, compared to the third quarter of 2021. The natural increase of the population in the third quarter of 2022 shows that there are 1042 more births than deaths.
Six regions of the country recorded a positive natural population increase in the third quarter of 2022, while the natural population increase was negative in the other six regions.
In the third quarter of 2022, the region with the highest natural increase was Tirana, with 928 more births than deaths, while the region with the lowest natural increase was Korça with 139 more deaths than births.
All regions of the country recorded a decrease in the number of births in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the third quarter of 2021. /Argumentum.al
