TIRANA, November 10 – A year-long operation carried out by the prosecution authority for serious crimes and corruption, SPAK jointly with EUROJUST destroyed the group of fraudsters with cryptocurrencies. The operation involved 8 countries, Albania, Sweden, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Spain and Ukraine.
The suspects are involved in computer fraud using cryptocurrency. The suspects posed as brokers who persuaded customers to invest small sums of money, telling them they would win large sums.
According to the officials, the economic damage amounted to 50 million euros in three months and those affected are foreign citizens from different countries.
Manuel Martines, Head of the Guardia Civil in Catalonia, said that this operation achieved success due to the fruitful cooperation of the institutions of all countries.
The head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, called on Albanian citizens not to get involved in these activities that currently bring benefits but result in punishment.
“These are criminal activities spread over several countries… I call on Albanian citizens, whether at the level of business or employed persons, not to get involved in these criminal activities that bring quick profit at the moment but have the consequence of judicial punishment for the offense they commit,” Kraja said. /Argumentum.al
