TIRANA, December 13 – “I have been in Albania for 3 years and I will be here for a little longer,” declared the Ambassador of the United States of America, Yuri Kim at the conference entitled “Towards judicial excellence” that was held in Tirana on Tuesday.
Justice reform is not easy, but results are being seen and this is the time when a push forward is needed and strive for continuous progress and real results.
According to her, enough time has passed and justice must be offered to people. “We have to find a way. I know that the Albanian people, like the USA and the American people, look forward to courts filled with judges who are trained, impartial, who are capable and ready to deliver justice. Not revenge, but justice… This is a crucial time for justice reform and there are reasons to be optimistic about this generation of Albanians,” said Kim.
The announcement of Kim to extend her stay in Albania as the foreign ministry of this country informed that she would leave as soon as her 3-year mandate is ending has been considered by some analysts as a response to her confrontation with PM Edi Rama. No details have been provided about what has gone wrong in the relations between the two because all Kim’s mandate has been in the service of the power of Rama blasting opposition and accusing its veteran head Sali Berisha of corruption. /Argumentum.al
