TIRANA, June 22 – At the request of the Democratic Party parliamentary faction led by Enkelejd Alibeaj, the Council of Mandates of Parliament will convene regarding the immunity of Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka. The meeting of the Council for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity will take place on Friday, 24.06.2022 at 10:30.
The meeting will review the motion submitted by 1/10 of the deputies representing the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party for following the parliamentary procedure for ascertaining the invalidity and the end of the mandate of the deputy Olta Xhacka.
Earlier the DP parliamentary group filed a motion to remove the mandate of Minister Olta Xhacka. The motion clarified: “The company established immediately after the adoption of the law on strategic investments AG. TCC shpk owned by the husband of the Minister and MP Mrs. Olta Xhacka, has benefited the status of strategic investor for the construction of a multi-storey hotel in a development area of 10,592 m² and worth about 5.5 million euros, in Gjileka, Himara Municipality. The company owned by the husband of the minister and MP Mrs. Olta Xhacka has benefited from the support measure of allowing the use of the coast in front of the hotel for a period of 30 years, and also benefits from the VAT reduction incentive.”
Some other deputies have required the resignation of Xhacka from the post of top diplomat because of the scandal linked with the employment by the Foreign Ministry of the sister of repentant defendant Nuredin Dumani, who is behind bars for multiple assassination.
