TIRANA – Amidst calls for ‘vigilance’ against COVID-19 the health ministry announced on Wednesday that 3 more patients infected with coronavirus passed away while 68 new persons were confirmed being sick with the virus during the last 24 hours.
Currently, 124 patients are being treated in the two COVID hospitals, the Infectious Diseases Hospital and the “Shefqet Ndroqi” Hospital, 20 in intensive care and 7 patients are intubated.
“During the last 24 hours, 496 tests were performed on suspects affected by COVID19, of which 68 positive cases were confirmed,” said Eugena Tomini, specialist at the Institute of Public Health.
The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: 34 cases in Tirana, 10 in Kruja, 5 in Durres, 3 in Shkodra, 2 cases in Dibra, Shijak, 1 case in Kurbin, Korca, Elbasan, Kukes, Lezha, Vlora, Tropoja, Kamez, Ura Vajgurore, Vau i Dejës, Prrenjas, and Klos.
In the meantime it is announced that 66 citizens recovered in the last 24 hours,
bringing the number of recovered to 2,463 since the outbreak of the epidemic.
“The Ministry of Health reminds once again to all citizens the mandatory wearing of the mask indoors and wherever it is not possible to maintain physical distance,” said Tomini.
“Respect of social distance, mask wearing, personal and collective hygiene are the only ways to curb the spread of COVID19,” ISHP specialist said. /argumentum.al
