TIRANA – The meeting of the National Council of Security (NCS) has been held in the constructive and cooperative spirit having as its main target the unification of all human energies and capacities to protect citizens’ health, national economy, social peace and security, has said President Ilir Meta.
President Meta delivered that message after Wednesday’s meeting of NCS held online, which brought together Prime Minister Edi Rama and Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha after a long time in the midst of the escalating coronavirus pandemic that has hit Albania. The meeting which was also attended by Speaker Gramoz Ruci, ministers and senior officials of key institutions of security and police, focused on measures to be taken by the government to overpower the coronavirus crisis in Albania.
During the video meeting PM Rama briefed the participants on the measures which have been taken as well as on eventual scenarios that might have to be applied depending on the progress of the epidemic.
Speaking for the first time in such an event in the presence of the PM, the DP head Lulzim Basha, who as a matter of fact has been active in making public opposition’s suggestions to cope with the situation, unveiled the approach which was in line with the proposals made earlier on many occasions.
“We discussed the measures which have been taken and will be taken by the government for facing the difficult situation created in the country as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the prevention of its further spread,” said Meta in his message. He also informed that the return of Albanian citizens who are abroad because of the closure of borders was discussed.
“Our country will face successfully this very hard situation in this all-inclusive spirit and cooperation,” said the head of state extending thanks to Speaker Ruci, PM Rama and DP’s Basha for what he said ‘the unity they showed’.
Meta concluded by saying that any decision, stance and behavior of each of them should be led only by the best national, public and citizens’ interest. /argumentum.al
