TIRANA, August 8 – The second protest was held in Tirana on Monday after the tragic death of 7-year-old Jonada Avdia in Himara on August 2. Protesters gathered in front of the Ministry of Interior under the motto “Justice for Jonada”, who lost her life while vacationing with her family on Potami beach, when Commissar Arjan Tase’s speedboat hit her and killed her on the spot.
Protesters launched calls for justice and against the government at the doors of the ministry. Then they painted red paint on the walls of the Ministry of the Interior. One of the protesters said that the red color symbolized the blood caused by Prime Minister Edi Rama as well as ministers Bledi Çuçi and Mirela Kumbaro. After protesting for about 30 minutes at the Ministry of the Interior, the citizens went to the Prime Minister’s Office shouting “Justice for Jonada”.
They sat cross-legged on the boulevard in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. The protesters demanded the resignation of the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, the Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, but also of the director of the State Police, Gledis Nano.
The citizens stationed in front of the Prime Minister’s Office tried to call Prime Minister Edi Rama “live” to ask for the resignation of ministers Çuçi and Kumbaro but although the bell rang, there was no answer.
