TIRANA – On the occasion of the Victory Day, May 9, a symbolic activity of planting trees was organized by the Russian Embassy at its premises. Birch, olive and pine trees as wel as laurels were planted by the Ambassador, Mikhail Afanasiev, the staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Albanian-Russian Friendship Association and organizations of Russian expats living in Albania.
The ceremony, which was organized with the support of the representation of the Federal Agency “Rossotrudniçestvo”, was part of the international initiative called “Remembrance Garden”.
Unfortunately there were not many people, who wished to join the symbolic tree planting, because of the restrictions set in the frame of the unfavorable epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus pandemic in Albania.
“We hope that the trees planted in honor of the martyrs who fell during the Second World War will please the guests and staff of the Embassy for many years,” said an announcement posted on the FB account of the Russian Embassy.
Earlier the Russian Embassy in Tirana congratulated Albanians on the occasion of the Martyrs’ Day- May 5, which is marked in Albania every year, conveying to all of them the most heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the Martyrs’ Day of their fatherland.
“The heroic deed, the sacrifices of the martyrs and the valuable contribution of the Albanian people in the destruction of Nazi- Fascism will be remembered forever by the Russian people,” said the message of the Russian Embassy in Tirana. /argumentum.al
