TIRANA, May 22 – The Albanian capital Tirana was on Sunday the destination of the tour of the World Cup trophy organized by FIFA and Coca-Cola. It arrived in Tirana on Sunday morning and was displayed at the premises of the Prime Minister’s Office where the government head Edi Rama was also present.
In his remarks Rama thanked the organizers of Coca-Cola and FIFA for the realization of this tournament and said that he hoped that the day would come when Albania would also receive its cup.
“These are very special days for the Albanian customs officials, because for the first time they encountered the procedure of customs clearance of a cup and not of only one but two at the same time, of the world cup and that of the confederation, which will be given at our stadium on Wednesday,” said Rama.
According to him, although the cup’s stay in Tirana is only 5 hours, the PM wished and hoped that as many football fans as possible would see the cup. “I wish all the friends who have come to have a good time in Tirana. We are ready to host them here. At the moment, we are dealing with the cups of others, but maybe the day will come for us to win it as well,” said Rama.
Albania will host the UEFA Conference League final between Rome and Feyenoord on May 25, the first event of a European final in the history of the Albanian nation. /Argumentum.al
