There is a slight increase of citizens infected by Covid-19 during the last 24 hours showing that no ‘truce’ is achieved with the deadly virus in Albania, according to health authorities on Thursday.
Some 13 citizens were found positive out of 4051 tests done. The balance sheet is as following: 5 cases in Tirana, 3 in Durres, 1 case in Shkodra, Fier, Lezha, Vlora, Kamza.
There are currently 112 active COVID19 patients nationwide. Six patients are receiving specialized hospital treatment
at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana.
There is no loss of life with Sars-Cov2 positive on Thursday, it is said. 2 citizens have been cured in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of cured to 130,061 since the outbreak of the epidemic in March last year.
In another event, as Prime Minister Edi Rama warned doctors that he would set up a network to denounce corruption in healthcare system, doctors protested again on Thursday, demanding better working conditions and higher salaries.
The doctors of the Diaspora have joined the doctors of the University Hospital Center of Tirana, demanding a more dignified treatment from the government.
Diaspora doctors from the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center have demanded an increase in the doctor’s salary to the level of 1500 euros.
To end corruption in ‘white shirts’ and their mass departure to countries that promise better wages, a pay rise has been suggested.
There are about 3000 subjects registered so far in the Federation of Diaspora Doctors
and most of them are from Albania. About 1500 specialist doctors work in Albania.
The Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe has sent a request for an increase in the salary of doctors at the level of the region to the European Commission.
A few days ago doctors held a protest at the Trauma Hospital after the arrest of two colleagues as they were accused of taking bribes for the medical care. / argumentum.al
