TIRANA, December 16 – A scandal of international proportions was published on Friday by the Montenegrin media “Pobjeda“, which said that Albania and Montenegro broke the embargo against Russia allowing the trade of grain and chemical fertilizers between Serbia and Russia through the Port of Durrës. According to daily’s article, thousands of trucks were loaded with chemical fertilizers from ships that came from Russia to the Port of Durrës, crossed into Montenegro through the border point of Hani Hoti and entered Serbia near Dobrakov from the Montenegrin territory.
The trucks were loaded with grain and travelled along the same route while on the way back.
Montenegrin journalists have reported that a large company connected to the Tirana authorities, who have turned a blind eye to trade between Vučić and Putin, was involved in the transportation of grain and chemical fertilizers in Albania in violation of the sanctions that the US and the European Union have imposed against Russia. So far, about 4,500 trucks have followed the designated route, while only from December 1 until a few days ago, over 100 trucks were registered in transit, according to the daily.
In the meantime acting Prime Minister Dritan Abazović enthusiastically advocates for Montenegro to join the “Open Balkans” project as soon as possible, which means, as he pointed out, the erasure of borders between countries. It can be expected that the opening of borders will soon enable the flourishing of such or similar lucrative and illegal international transit business.
The former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs, Jovana Marović, warned this in the analysis of the department she headed, and one of the main conclusions was that the removal of border controls would open the possibility of the stepped up use of the “Balkan road” of crime.
The ignoring of the warning to Abazovic was the main reason why Marović resigned turning her back on the politics of the prime minister and Ura leader.
The government has announced that it will not give up joining the regional initiative (Open Balkans) engineered by Aleksandar Vucic and Edi Rama. /Argumentum.al
