TIRANA – The publication of the news on Friday that Ali Ahmeti may resign from the post of DUI chairman, and his successor could be Artan Grubi has been denied by the latter in a statement on social networks on Saturday.
DUI’s number two said that Ali Ahmeti remains irreplaceable and that the news circulating is not true, local media said on Saturday.
“There is nothing true in the news published about the interview of President Ahmeti in The Hague and his alleged resignation from DUI,” Grubi pointed out.
Daily Express reported on Friday that Ahmeti could resign as DUI head because of the invitation to testify to Kosovo’s Special Prosecutors’ Chambers in The Hague.
According to Grubi, Mr. Ahmeti’s interview, which will be held in Pristina in the first week of September, will last only two days and he will appear in the capacity of a witness.
“Regarding his withdrawal, I repeat, Ali Ahmeti is irreplaceable for DUI and Albanians not only in North Macedonia, but also in the region, and he is a key contributor to the stability, security and Euro-Atlantic orientation of the region,” Grubi said.
A few days ago Ahmeti sealed a deal with SDSM’s Zaev on the creation of a coalition government in which DUI obtained key government ministerial seats. //argumentum.al
