TIRANA, October 25 – EU Ambassador to Albania Christiane Homann said that the EU Summit is very important for the Union as all European leaders will gather in Tirana on December 6.
The ambassador made that statement to the media in the southeastern city of Korca during an official visit on Tuesday.
The Albanian public should remember the findings and progress of the EC report as it explains the situation the country is in, she said.
It is the first time that such a Summit will be organized outside the Union, precisely in Albania, according to Homann.
“In fact, it is the first time that the summit between the EU and the Western Balkans comes to the Western Balkans region and for the first time in Albania, and this shows how important this country is for us and the membership of these countries in the EU as well as the work that these countries will do,” she said, adding that very important issues for the future of the EU will be discussed.
Asked about the high rate of crime in Albania, the Ambassador believed that all are aware that the EC published the Progress Report 10 days ago and it explains very clearly the situation the country is in.
“And actually for all those who are interested, you can read it, where an important part is about the rule of law, how much work has been done and how much needs to be done and it is clear on the issue of the rule of law,” said the EU Ambassador. /Argumentum.al
