TIRANA – The epidemiological situation was characterized by an increase in the number of people affected by COVID – 19 and new hospitalizations in the two hospitals of Infectious Diseases and “Shefqet Ndroqi” in the last week, while 6 fatalities and 101 new cases were confirmed on Monday, according to the daily medical bulletin released by Dr. Flutura Beqo, a specialist at the Ministry of Health.
“The week we just left showed an increase of 5.9% in the number of positive cases compared to the confirmed cases in the 30th week. The 7-day incidence resulted in 24.66 positive cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The highest incidence is in the region of Tirana, followed by the regions of Durres and Shkodra,” she said.
Regarding the affected age groups, the largest percentage of the infected has been of the age group 55-64 years, which constitute about 20% of the total affected persons, said Beqo.
Speaking in detail on the epidemiological situation during the last 24 hours, she said that 474 tests were performed on suspects affected by COVID – 19 out of whom 101 persons were confirmed to be affected by the virus.
According to the figures provided by her, a total of 42,657 molecular and serological tests have been performed throughout the country since the outbreak of the epidemic, while epidemiological tracking and investigation by epidemiological structures throughout the territory continues.
It is obvious the drop of the daily recovered patients with 13 infected persons leaving the hospitals on Monday. But the number of the C19 active persons is up standing at 2,417.
Currently 122 confirmed positive patients are being cured in the Infectious Diseases and “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospitals where 14 patients are in intensive therapy, 4 of which are intubated patients.
Local media has widely reported on the death of a doctor, 53, from Tropoja, and an electrician, 28, from Shkodra, who lost their lives along with 4 other patients aged from 71 to 79.
