TIRANA – Sunday has marked the highest number of affected people by COVID – 19 in Albania where, as the Health Ministry said, 123 people were confirmed infected out of 474 tested persons.
In the meantime, it was reported that 5 people lost their life in the two Covid 5 civic hospitals in the last 24 hours. “Unfortunately, they could not win the battle with the disease,” said the Health Ministry. The death toll in Albania stands at 165 as of August 2.
A threatening source of the spread of the infection is 2,335 active cases across the country, who despite being followed by family doctors, pose a threat due to eventual violation of quarantine rules.
The Ministry of Health calls on businesses and tourist accommodation units to respect safety protocols: Physical distance, mandatory mask in service and perform continuous disinfection and hygiene of the premises.
“A reminder for vacationers too: Respect the distance with others who are not your family members and take care of your personal hygiene. 28 summer health centers are available to vacationers, with doctors and nurses trained also for the C19 situation,” said the announcement of the ministry.
In the meantime the number of patients being treated in both COVID hospitals, the infectious one and “Shefqet Ndroqi”, has reached 120 people. 18 of them are in intensive care and 6 intubated.
“This situation keeps doctors alert, who view the infection with concern, especially as people of young age are being infected and hospitalized,” a report by Klan TV said on Sunday.
According to epidemiologists, the causes of the spread of the coronavirus are gatherings at mass celebrations, weddings or funeral ceremonies, activities that doctors continue to warn to avoid during the pandemic. /argumentum.al
