TIRANA, October 19 – The head of the university lecturers’ union, Sandër Kovaçi has responded to the attack of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said on Wednesday that the head of the ongoing strike is one of National Informative Service (SHIK).
Kovaçi retorted in a TV talk show revealing that Prime Minister Edi Rama should increase lecturers’ salaries if he wants the strike to end and that he worked in the Information Service and received a reward from Rama for his excellent work. He praised his work as a diplomat and afterwards he was asked to work as director of analysis in the Intelligence Service.
“I am honored to have contributed to that institution for a period of more than 2 years and worked for that prime minister and that department received a reward for the excellent work from Rama,” Kovaçi said.
He further clarified that he terminated his employment at SHIK to pursue an academic career. “I decided to follow the academic career path to pursue my academic degrees,” he said.
Kovaçi declared that the protests will continue. “We will continue the protests because we have justice with us. If the Prime Minister is going to end this protest, let him raise the salaries,” said the head of the lecturers’ union.
In the meantime the strikers are supported by the opposition and its head Sali Berisha. /Argumentum.al
