TIRANA – A sturdy appeal has been made by President Ilir Meta to youth to unite and take Albania’s destines in their hands in a message made public on Wednesday on the occasion of the International Youth Day.
“It is the time to defend Albania’s future and I believe in the great self-consciousness and responsibility that you will take upon you to carry out this high task decisively and patriotically,” said Meta in his appeal.
The theme of International Youth Day 2020 is “Youth Engagement for Global Action” which seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.
Albania’s President admitted that many young people are faced with big obstacles, exclusion, misunderstanding and disappointment, which, as he said, “have forced you to find different forms to flee from this unacceptable reality including the massive leaving of the motherland.”
Meta lauded what he called the ‘braveness, energy, talent and strength of youth’ facing any difficulty and smashing any threat.
“Join forces and take in your hands the motherland’s destiny!” concluded the message of Albania’s head of state. /argumentum.al
