TIRANA – Serbia is involved in a continued militarization from Russia and China but the European Union keeps silent, has said a senior veteran diplomat Kosovo on Tuesday.
Enver Hoxhaj, a former foreign minister, made the comment on a reaction regarding the announcement that Serbia has purchased Chinese medium-range, radar-guided surface-to-air missiles.
“The biggest part of imports is related to the modernisation of MIG-29 planes, the procurement of drone systems.. (and) air-defense system FK-3,” said the state-run arms company Jugoimport SDPR’s annual report seen by Reuters news agency.
“Serbia is the first country in Europe to buy from China surface-to-air missiles,” said Hoxhaj in a note on Twitter on Tuesday blaming the EU for saying not a word on the Serb military purchases.
Below is Hoxhaj’s full comment on Twitter, which was published by Gazeta Express on Tuesday:
“Serbia is 1st country in Europe to buy from China surface-to-air missiles, in a continued militarization from Russia & China. Still no reaction from EU @vonderleyen & @JosepBorrell on this game-changing maneuver by @avucic that has implications for peace & security in the Balkans.” /argumentum.al
