Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that “Kosovo does not have a dialogue with Serbia and I have said this publicly. I have told this to the leaders of Kosovo. Kosovo has a dialogue with the EU”.
During an interview for Nacionale, when asked about the developments in Kosovo and the dialogue with Serbia, Rama stated that “Kosovo does not have the objective of integrating into Serbia, it has the objective of joining the EU and NATO. Then what should Kosovo do? Kosovo should do its part from A to Z, without asking at all and without expecting Serbia to do the rest. Very simple. By doing this different type of negotiation, Kosovo has linked its fate with Serbia”.
“Kosovo authorities are authorities to do what they see fit. It is not up to me to be a commentator or analyst of things happening in Kosovo. But I know one thing even at the cost that the digital army of Kosovo constantly attacks me as a traitor and I don’t care that if they were all traitors like my work, today Kosovo would be in the Council of Europe. But what I strongly believe is that I would have chosen a different strategy for negotiations with Serbia. Kosovo does not have dialogue with Serbia and I have said this publicly, I have also told this to your leaders. Kosovo has a dialogue with the EU. “Kosovo does not have the objective of integrating into Serbia, it has the objective of joining the EU, NATO and becoming an equal member of the democratic family of the West, bearing in mind that the East is Russia and not Poland,” Rama emphasized.
The Prime Minister underlined that “Kosovo must do its part from A to Z, without asking at all, without expecting Serbia to do the rest. What is required of Kosovo is for the good of Kosovo”.
According to him, “Kosovo has won the war. Kosovo has another war now. It has the struggle to confirm its international subjectivity”.
“And then it is known who are the obligations of the parties. Serbia has its own, and Kosovo has its own. If I had determined the strategy and tactics of these negotiations, I would have fulfilled all my part, I would have left the USA and the EU in their hands and I would say we did ours. Now go deal with the others there and don’t ask us for anything more and now open the doors that you can open for us”, said Rama during the interview.
Prime Minister Rama added that “by making this different type of negotiation, Kosovo has linked its fate with Serbia, this may be productive from an electoral point of view, but from the point of view of shaping international subjectivity, it is not productive”.
