TIRANA – It has been an opportunity to mark the date when the Canine Institute was created seven decades ago. This was done by the US Ambassador, Yuri Kim who posted a note on her Twitter account praising Interior Minister Sander Llleshaj and ASP Director Ardi Veliu for their contribution in this aspect of the fight against narcotics, detection of explosives and location of disasters’ survivors.
Below full text of Ambassador Kim’s note:
“Congrats on the 70th anniversary of Albanian Canine Institute! MoI @SanderLleshaj & ASP Director Ardi Veliu credited US training & equipment with building a canine force able to uncover narcotics, detect explosives & locate survivors of disasters.”
Even the Interior Minister, Lleshaj took the opportunity of the 70th anniversary of the Albanian Canine Institute to declare that it is high time that dogs can be included in the State Police with an added role even in the protection of objects, according to Shqiptarja.com on August 17.
“It is high time that dogs take an added role even in other fields and I want to highlight the protection of objects where they can play very useful services and can significantly reduce the need for the added engagement of human sources,” said Lleshaj.
The Albanian Canine Institute was established in 1950 during the time of the communist government in Albania. /argumentum.al
