TIRANA – Justice sector professionals must be allowed to conduct their work free from threats and intimidation, no matter who the defendant is, has said the U.S. Embassy.
In a statement released through social media network on Friday Washington’s mission in Tirana strongly supports the independent and professional work of ASP and SPAK.
These are two bodies created in the frame of the judicial reform backed by western partners in this Balkan country where judiciary is blamed for rampant corruption.
“It is time to allow them to carry out their duties and support their efforts to combat organized crime,” said the Embassy, which added that judiciary’s main task is to fight organized crime and pave the way for the opening of the integration path in the EU.
“This is the only way for Albanians to get the professional and impartial justice system they deserve and to make progress towards EU integration,” concluded the statement of the U. S. Embassy in Tirana. /argumentum.al
