TIRANA – Pristina’s politicians should think of how to find a ‘pro Kosovo’ solution and not an ‘anti-Kurti’ one, has said Albania’s President Ilir Meta being among the first high officials of the country to react on Kurti’s dismissal by parliament on Wednesday evening.
The President made that statement in a morning TV show on Thursday. “The situation created by the coronavirus pandemic should be the number one priority for all the leadership of Kosovo,” said Mr. Meta.
Kosovo’s Kurti Says His Dismissal Ordered by US Ambassador
In his first public communication Albin Kurti, the caretaker PM, said on Thursday that the aim of the no-confidence motion was not the overthrow of the government but the weakening of the governance in Kosovo.
“The meaning of the non confidence was the order of (US) Ambassador Grenell: there are more than 80 deputies in Kosovo who are ready to put in danger citizens’ life only to make possible the presidential exchange,” said Mr. Kurti whose government could resist the pressure of his opponents only 51 days.
However, he seemed optimistic about the future being convinced that Vetevendosje Movement (VV) would win. “The future is ours while we lose a tragedy,” Mr. Kurti said, confirming that his government will continue to be on duty. “We are a government with tasks rather than an enforced government.”
The caretaker PM pledged that first of all the Covid-19 pandemic should be fought by all. “On top of all let us stay close to the people because Kosovo is our home,” he concluded. /argumentum.al
