“I would like to congratulate the new energy managers on the successfully completed training year, and receive thecertificates according to the EU standards. I am sure that you will reap the rewards of this work very soon… Do not forget that you have laid the foundation of a difficult but very valuable journey,” said Austrian Charge d’affaires RenateSeib

TIRANA – “Iam very pleased that the European Energy Management project has also been  implemented here in Albania,” said the Austrian Charge d’affaires inTirana, Renate Seib in the closing event of the pilot project implemented by the Austrian Institute of Excellence (AIEx) on October 11, 2019.  This is the first one-year training course in the frame of EUREM project financed by the European Union which was carried out by AIEx certifying 23 energy managers in Albania.

The EUREM,European Energy Manager Training, is a standardized training of further education that enhances the skills of technical experts in the field of energy efficiency improvement. It covers nearly all energy- relevant issues that can arise in companies. European Energy Managers training program started in Nuremberg in 1997 and now it is present thanks to AIEx in Albania, too. The EUREM training contents are standardized and therefore globally comparable. The quality of the training and the training organization is ensured by periodical quality checks by external auditors.

The Austrian Charge d’affairs, Seib noted in her remarks that “With their newly gained  know-how and skills the Albanian energy managers will certainly be a valuable resource for their companies.”  She took the opportunity to thank the organizers and representatives of the AIEx in Albania for their untiring efforts to make the most of the project.

Further on Ms. Seib said Austria is a lead country in the field of energy efficiency not only by individual undertaking and efforts of different companies, but also by renowned institutions, such as: the Institute for Sustainable Technologies(AEE), the Energy Institute of Economy (EIW) and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO), which brought the EUREMnext program to Albania through the

Austrian Institute of Excellence.

“Now I would like to congratulate the new energy managers on the successfully completed  training year, and receive the certificates according to the EU standards. I am sure that you will reap the rewards of this work very soon,” said the Austrian diplomat. “Do not forget that you have laid the foundation of a difficult but very valuable journey,” said Austrian Charge d’affaires Seib.

September 2018- October 2019…

“Our energy managers are the ‘army’ of the energy efficiency. They do not overburden the economy; on the contrary they facilitate it. They do not create any cost but  find solutions helping in this way in cost reduction and growth of competition of the relevant companies. In addition they contribute significantly to the protection of the global climate. Our principle is clear: Proud to save!” pointed out Dr. Hans Spernbauer, founder of Austrian Institute of Excellence and Head of the Steering Committee of EUREM for Albania on September 25 last year when the project was introduced in the presence of Albania’s Energy Minister and other government officials in Tirana we well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.

“We are very grateful to the European Union for supporting the EUREMNext project whose aim is to introduce EUREM existing structures to 6 new European countries one of which is Albania,” said Dr. Spernbauer during the launching of the pilot project back in September 2018.

Congratulating the first 23 energy managers for their successful qualification in the frame of the pilot project financed by the European Union  under ‘Horizon 2020’ program, Mrs. BiancaDuro, Managing Director of AIEx, told the participants in the event held on October 11, 2019 that the conclusion of the project was a celebration for all -the new managers and AIEx.

“AIEx aims at upgrading the standards of the companies that operate in Albanian market through qualification of the staff and enhancing their competencies according to European standards,” she said.

Mrs. Duro noted that EUREM project, which was operational in 27 countries, was brought to Albania through AIEx being offered to a group of professionals who were experienced in the energy and industry fields in Albania. 23 Albanian energy managers add to 5,000 worldwide peers

The worldwide alumni network of energy managers consists of 5,000 members and now besides carrying out their tasks the first group of Albanian energy managers can exchange ideas and experience with their colleagues around the world.

“Thanks to this qualification, the first 23 energy managers in Albania become part of the worldwide alumni consisting of 5,000 managers who will compete with their concepts on energy in the upcoming competition of Eurem Internacional,” announced AIEx Managing Director.

Goals of the training have been among others competent qualification of the participants in all technical possibilities for the reduction of the energy consumption in production enterprises and knowledge for the optimization of energy purchase as well as for the use of the chances of energy markets and emission trading.  The main strategic objective of EUREM is to contribute to the protection of environment as well as to the competitiveness of the business by increasing the quality of the energy auditing and consequently the increase of the measures for energy efficiency.

In a comment on the significance of such an achievement, Mr. Edvin Pacara from the EU

Delegation in Tirana said in his remarks in the ceremony that “you are the first energy managers certified in this stage and it is expected that other managers from Estonia, Latvia, Serbia, and Turkey will be certified.”

According to him, thanks to the contribution of the 23 new energy managers, which is a significant number for Albania, the country will succeed to achieve the objectives for the decrease of the energy consumption by 6.8 percent until 2020. He pointed out that the efficiency of energy is fundamental to achieve the objectives on climate and country’s economic development.

“This is not the only project and will not remain the only one to be supported by the EU for the achievement of the common objectives. The new EU Commission has climate, where efficiency of energy is important, as a priority. That’s why you are very important,” said the EU Delegation official.

The distribution of the certificates to the new energy managers by the Austrian and EU diplomats and AIEx authorities was followed by a cocktail during which the new energy managers did not hide the pleasure for such an achievement.
