Rapid Covid-19 Tests Launched in Worsening Spread of Pandemic in Albania

Rapid Covid-19 Tests started to be applied to patients suspected of being infected by the coronavirus in Albania as of Monday.
This was announced by the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu in a post on Twitter on Monday. This is a seemingly simple test, similar to those of pregnancy to find out if you are infected with COVID-19 or not. This is the fast antigen test that started to be performed in the capital and then, according to the defined plan earlier, their use will be applied in districs as well. Minister Manastirliu explained that several points will be opened in Tirana and other cities for testing after consulting the family doctor.
Below full announcement of Health Minister: “From today the teams of field epidemiologists will also perform rapid tests, in addition to testing with the PCR method, increasing the access for citizens for timely and safe testing. 100,000 rapid tests are provided which will continue to increase testing capacity with both testing methods. Soon, several points will be opened in Tirana and other cities for testing after consulting the family doctor.”
In the meantime President Ilir Meta has reacted to the situation because of coronavirus, saying that the cases of loss of life have made the situation worse.
Meta said that any complaint of citizens regarding Covid-19, should be handled responsibly.
“The increase of emergencies with citizens affected by COVID-19 in serious condition, who come to the hospitals of Tirana and are forced to wait long time in ambulances requires immediate measures, so that this situation does not happen again,” said Meta in his statement on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours 19 people lost their lives while the number of infected people has reached the climax of almost 900 cases in Albania on Sunday. /argumentum.al
