TIRANA – Prime Minister Edi Rama has said that he is ready to sit down to discuss important issues with Democratic Party (DP) chairman Lulzim Basha when it is seen reasonable, has said the Socialist co-chairman of the Political Council on the Electoral Reform, Damian Gjiknuri.
This statement came at the end of a tough meeting of the Political Council on Wednesday, which was held among harsh debates between majority and opposition as the latter insisted on its demands rejected by the majority particularly the one on the creation of a transition government three months ahead of the general elections.
At a point the meeting was disrupted to restart again which has likely brought about majority’s withdrawal something that has still to be checked.
For his part Oerd Bylykbashi, the DP co-chairman of the Council, said the majority had withdrawn.
“The majority withdrew from those stances which were put forward provocatively by Edi Rama on Tuesday,” he said, dwelling on the issue of the Electoral College. According to him, the opposition will not allow the majority to select its members alone. He also said that the majority will not be allowed to make changes to the Electoral Code on its own.
Bylykbashi did not say anything on an eventual meeting between Rama and Basha, but it should be recalled that the DP chairman backed by the veteran Democrat leader Sali Berisha rejected an invitation to sit at a round table made by majority’s head Rama a few days ago. /argumentum.al
