TIRANA – Reduction of flat tax to 9 percent, removal of tax on fuels, elimination of permits, licenses and authorizations which prevent free competition, fight corruption, restoration of legal certainty are some of the main targets promised by the head of the Democratic Party (DP) Lulzim Basha when he comes to power.
Albania will hold general elections in spring next year. DP’s head is engaged in daily meetings with businesses of different sizes shifting his attention to economy making promises which as analysts hint might constitute his economic platform.
“I have guaranteed the representatives of the Foreign Investors Association (FIA) that the absorption of foreign investments will be a strategic priority of the next government in addition to the support of business and domestic production,” Basha told FIA representatives on Wednesday.
His promises go further having as ambition the dismantling of unfair competition and the fight of corruption. Basha also pledged to ‘dismantle’ monopolies and put an end to clientelism offering fair competition in this Balkan country.
When DP has been in power Basha has run some ministries of Berisha government. /argumentum.al
