TIRANA, September 22 – Albania and Croatia completed the first round of negotiations on the social security agreement. The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama in a post on social networks on Thursday.
Rama said that “all the procedures for the ratification of this agreement will be followed after the end of the technical process.”
“About 3,000 Albanian citizens working in this country will benefit from this agreement, which will be ratified by the respective parliaments at the end of the technical processes,” said Rama.
The Albanian delegation was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, Olta Manjani, while the Croatian delegation was chaired by Melita Cicak, director of the Pension System.
The parties agreed on the continuation of cooperation with the aim of finalizing a complete agreement on the coordination of social insurance schemes between the two countries, in accordance with the standards of European legislation in the field of insurance.
The Albanian government remains committed to protecting the rights of its citizens in order for their work to be recognized and guaranteed by law, it was said.
Albania currently has agreements on mutual recognition of pensions with Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, North Macedonia, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Austria, Turkey and Belgium.
The process of recognizing pensions is also advancing with countries such as Canada, Bulgaria and Switzerland. Meanwhile, talks continue with Italy and Greece, two countries where the largest number of Albanians live and work abroad. /Argumentum.al
