In the framework of the procedures for the ratification of the agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on the establishment and functioning of a joint police and customs center Andi Mahila, Deputy Minister of Interior, gave details at the meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance on Wednesday.
According to him, the establishment and functioning of a joint police and customs center will help increase cooperation between the two countries in the fight against cross-border crime, organized crime and its links, illegal migration, etc.
The Deputy Minister clarified that the center will be positioned in the territory of the Republic of Greece, at the Kakavija border crossing point, and this will not lead to overlap with customs and police authorities, as the center will have well-defined tasks and be independent of the duties of customs authorities and police.
In terms of financial costs, Mahila explained that they will be covered by the budget program “State Police”, while for the staff there will be no additional financial effects, because employees will be part of the current structure of the State Police Directorate and the Directorate of General Directorate of Customs.
MP Enslemvera Zake, as rapporteur, praised the proposed draft law, emphasizing the importance of this agreement for the exchange of information between the two countries in the field of police and customs and it was declared that the draft was adopted by the commission. / Argumentum.al
