Albania”s senior officials remembered the fifth anniversary of the elevation to sainthood of Mother Teresa on September 4, 2016.
Known worldwide, a Nobel Prize winner, for serving the poorest of the poor through the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa of Albanian origin, died on September 5, 1997.
President Ilir Meta said in a note on social networks on Sunday that on the Day of the Sainthood of Mother Teresa, Albanian national pride, her extraordinary example of love in action, solidarity and humanity comes as an inspiring message and reflection for fewer words.
“More deeds are needed for building a more compassionate and humane Albania wheren every Albanian citizen in need finds help, support, problem solving, social inclusion, equal opportunities and opportunities,” Meta said.
President concluded by saying: “To be proud of St. Teresa, you must first follow her work!”
In the meantime in his message on the occasion outgoing Speaker Grammy Ruci noted that Mother Teresa taught Albanians that love and peace begin in the family and spread to all people, all over the planet, and that love makes sense when expressed in service to others.
