TIRANA, October 4 – The customs clearance of all goods destined for Kosovo has been carried out at the customs of Durres since October 1.
Albania’s Minister of Finance Delina Ibrahimaj, as well as the Minister of Finance of Kosovo, Hekuran Murati paid a visit to the customs branch in Durres on Tuesday, where the Kosovo Customs Office also operates.
Minister Ibrahimaj announced that there are 1040 businesses from Kosovo that currently benefit from the opening of this branch, winning not only time, but also having reduced customs clearance costs.
The Kosovo Customs Office in the Port of Durres started operating on September 1, but only lorries and fuel were cleared. From October 1, customs clearance procedures for all types of goods are carried out in this office.
Minister Ibrahimaj emphasized that since Friday 70% of the processed declarations are for customs clearance, which speaks of a high interest of the business to complete the process at the Port of Durres.
“About 70% of the declarations made in Durres are declarations of customs clearance and not of transit, which means that the interest of the business is very high to complete the customs clearance process at the port of Durres and not have bureaucracy in the transport to the destination,” Ibrahimaj said.
The minister listed some of the facilities that have been offered to businesses thanks to the cooperation of the two governments, and informed that intensive work is being done on the customs union.
“Working groups from both countries are working to carry out an analysis for the customs union, so that all barriers and bureaucracies between the two countries be removed for the trade cooperation not to have any obstacles,” said the minister. /Argumentum.al
