TIRANA, November 24 – Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti has stated that the recently reached agreement with Serbia is simply an accord, which does not mean that the government has changed its position on the license plate issue, but the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, has changed his statement.
“On Monday, I was offered a document as a joint agreement which had 95 words, and the words France and Germany were nowhere. It does not say ‘the proposal’, but it is said that the license plate issue will be resolved according to that proposal, without saying ‘Franco-German’
proposal. Whereas, what was agreed last night has 194 words,” Kurti said on Thursday. According to him, it is said in the headline that it is Borrell’s statement.
“We have not changed our position, Borrell has changed his statement and this is a very good thing. Last night’s agreement is not an agreement on license plates. We will not fine KM license plates and we will give space to the negotiation of the European proposal that was previously called Franco-German,” Kurti said.
The PM said that they only agreed to stop actions in a reciprocal manner. Kurti added that he has responded to the accusations of those who say that Kosovo is accepting the preliminary agreements, therefore also the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority.
Recently, the Prime Minister of Kosovo said that he wanted the cooperation of the opposition.
“We need your support. We need discussion. I am willing to do it because I don’t want to walk alone. It is beyond any of us (what is happening), beyond this governing mandate,” said Kurti. /Argumentum.al
