The meeting between the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the leaders of the parliamentary political parties did not result in an agreement on a new mandate for forming the government, nor did it achieve readiness for the approval of draft laws in the Assembly.
The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, failed to produce a consensus on a new prime minister candidate or on the approval of urgent parliamentary matters, including the state budget, the financing of public television, and the budgets of three municipalities. President Osmani emphasized that now there is a deadline until November 5 for the ruling party, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV), to propose a new candidate for prime minister, after which the new decisions could be announced within another 10 days.
The President also stated that, according to the Constitution, she is obligated to do everything possible to avoid early elections and will work in that direction. However, other parties have made it clear that they support new elections and are not participating in meetings regarding the appointment of the prime minister.
PDK leader Memli Krasniqi said the meeting made it clear that it is impossible to form a new parliamentary majority in the current legislature, noting that 52 MPs represented by the four leaders of Albanian parties, along with some of their members, are not part of any possible governing coalition.
LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku also stated that the majority of Albanian MPs are not part of any formation capable of forming a government, which makes a second mandate impossible and directs the institutions toward new elections.
