TIRANA – “Joint meetings of our two governments have already become a practice of our cooperation and I believe that now we must move to very practical terms of the daily cooperation,” has said Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti.
PM Hoti made that comment at a joint press conference after an official meeting with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama during his visit to Tirana on Friday.
As it was reported by the Kosovo government website the two premiers discussed the excellent fraternal relations and the possibility of strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Hoti thanked the Albanian state and Prime Minister Rama for the continued support that Albania has given to Kosovo in all periods of state-building.
After the meeting, the two prime ministers held a press conference.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Hoti thanked PM Rama for his visit to Pristina a few days ago after the latest developments in Kosovo. He said that “we believe that we have the appropriate institutional prudence to face those situations.” Further on he said: “Your care to come to Pristina immediately after those developments is very valuable. Thank you for the friendly and fraternal reception here.”
Hoti mentioned three major strategic projects, the first of which is the port of Durres, which he said he personally worked with the former Minister of Finance to have a customs point, and the second in the field of energy. “We have complementary energy systems, but we must take care in the long run to solve this problem by considering the construction of a hydropower plant in the territory of Albania to supply electricity to the Republic of Kosovo, and the third project is the connection of our two countries with the railway.”
Meanwhile, Albanian Prime Minister Rama said that he was pleased to receive Prime Minister Hoti in Tirana with whom he discussed in detail all aspects of cooperation.
“We have agreed to set a new deadline for holding the meeting of the two governments in Shkodra and we expect that the difficult situation related to Covid19 will enable us to hold it in the second half of September,” said Prime Minister Rama. He added that they agreed on another important element, always hoping that the situation with Covid will allow; it is the holding of a conference in November for the two governments to sponsor the first congress of local authorities.
“We will always be on the side of Kosovo, we support Kosovo at all times,” said Prime Minister Rama.
Asked by journalists about the process of Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, Prime Minister Hoti said that the dialogue has no alternative. He stressed that whenever he is invited to Washington and Brussels, he will go to represent Kosovo. Hoti said that Kosovo enters the dialogue process with the principle of mutual recognition and normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
