TIRANA – Montenegro has announced the re- closing of its border with Albania due to the large spread of the coronavirus pandemic during the last few days in the country.
This was announced by Albanian foreign ministry on Saturday saying that such a measure by the neighboring country comes after the spike of affected people with COVID- 19.
“Given the increasing number of active infected citizens in Albania which currently stands at 700 (a limit set by Montenegrin authorities earlier), the Montenegrin authorities have decided to close the land border with Albania,” said the statement released by Tirana’s foreign ministry.
It is noted that exceptions are those who travel transit having a negative testing document for COVID-19 issued within the last 48 hours.
Also this limitation excludes travellers who are functionaries like diplomats, military personnel, health professionals, researchers etc.
This regime enters into force on June 21, 2020 at midnight and will remain in power until a second decision is made by the Operational Unit of Crisis in Podgorica. /argumentum.al
