TIRANA, December 17 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday that the situation created by the recent rainfall in some areas of northern Albania is under continuous monitoring. Rama shared images of the assistance being given to the residents of the areas affected by the recent rainfall in some areas in the north of the country.
“Ready to respond to every need of the people,” Rama said in a post on social networks.
In the meantime, the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, shared images of the assistance that is being given to the residents of these areas. HE noted that 7 vehicles of high mobility, 3 floating vehicles and 32 military forces have been engaged in helping the residents of Shkodra region.
Peleshi also added that support has been provided with food and clothing for the residents of Malësi e Madhe and Ana e Mali.
“Ready to respond to every need of the population,” said Peleshi in a post on social networks.
But no word is said on the real situation by the government officials, which, as a matter of fact, is provided by private TV and other social networks. According to them, the area of Nenshkodra woke up on Saturday under the reign of water due to indiscriminate discharges from the hydropower plants of the Drin river cascade and rainfall. The most critical situation is the village of Obot, where there is water in 55 homes and a land area of 1350 hectares is under water.
The water has covered everything in the village of Gorice, causing colossal damage to farmers and ranchers.
The residents say that the main cause of the floods are the indiscriminate discharges and the balance sheet of damages, according to them, is incalculable.
Meanwhile, the situation is also critical in the district of Lezha, where the level of Mati river has risen and the intense rains have caused more problems in Kurbin. /Argumentum.al
