TIRANA, September 11 – After the latest cyber attack the TIMS System has been put back into operation at the border crossing points, Rinas, Hani i Hotit, Kapshtica, Muriqan, Morine, and Kakavija of Albania. This was announced on Sunday by the Interior Minister, Bledi Çuçi who said, in addition, that work is being continued in an uninterrupted manner for the restoration of the TIMS system at other border crossing points.
Çuçi said that the IT team at the General Directorate of the State Police was also assisted by American partners.
“As of midnight, the TIMS system has returned to full operation at the Rinas Border Crossing Point. Similarly, it has been put back into operation at other border points of the country: Hani i Hoti, Kapshtica, Muriqan, Morina, and Kakavija. Currently, our experts are continuing the uninterrupted work for the restoration of the TIMS system at other Border Crossing Points, as well as taking the necessary measures to ensure that there are no more interruptions,” said the minister.
Peleshi asked for the understanding of the citizens who have encountered delays since it was worked from the first moment when the cyber attack was detected to guarantee above all the inviolability of the data and then for the return to normality in the fastest possible time.
Since Friday, the data storage and transmission systems of the State Police have been under a cyber attack similar to the one suffered by e-Albania in July. From the preliminary data, it appears that the attack was carried out by the same hand, which, according to the Albanian authorities and its partners the US and NATO, is Iran. /Argumentum.al
